I fished Galveston for 4 days intending to do mostly kayak fishing, but the wind turned it into a surf trip. The surf fishing for bull reds was the best I've seen. On the 1st day, in the surf, I caught 12 Fish. 11 bull reds and one black drum. Fish were caught on the incoming tide....for two hours, I caught nothing and then all fish were caught in the next two hours (2-3 hours before high tide). The largest two were caught during a triple header.....with one being being 45 inches and one being 48 inches and 48 pounds. The girth of this fish was 30 inches. This triple header was my first bite of the day and I quickly went to fishing two rods. All fish caught on live finger mullets or chunked mullet, except one red on the triple header was caught on live shrimp rig with 1/0 circle hooks meant for whiting. Here is the 48 incher (my biggest red and biggest fish ever)

Here is the 37 inch Black drum:

Nice sunset.....if you recognize the exact spot.....please don't post it even though it's definitely not a secret spot.

Set-ups were 17 pound suffix Tritanium connected with albright knots to approximately 16 foot 50 pound shock leaders and double high-low rigs tied with 80# mono.
I will eventually post more pictures and a video of the triple header etc. once I have time smile

Not very far, but deeper water. This spot is near a channel mouth and I fish it where there is a shallow sandbar that I wade out on that drops off pretty fast into deeper water. The fish tend to gather off the edge of this shallow sandbar/point that is followed by a nice drop-off. Find these kind of spots by cruising the beach at low tide.
