This is what I'm taking for a bag. Trying to cut down as much as I can because I always take WAY too much. For 4 days on Picachos I'll take... 100 Zoom Lizards wm/red 50 Super Flukes assorted colors 100 Senkos assorted colors 50 Brush Hogs assorted colors 15 Spinnerbaits 10 Squarebills 10 Deep Divers 5 Topwaters

What are the airlines charging for rods now I went six weeks ago and flew regular fare, non-stop American Eagle out of DFW to Mazatlan. It's a smaller Embraer jet, but it was comfortable. I took my reels in my carry on, but on the return flight, Mexican officials made me strip off all the line. There's not much overhead storage, so if your carry on is larger than a purse, they take it from you at the door while boarding, and give it back to you at the door while deboarding. I got three, up to fifty pounds each, checked bags free, including a seven and a half foot rod carrier. In Mazatlan, they made me show them a printed flight summary proving I got three checked bags free.

these guts are crazy(AA) just quoted 140 for a rod case......i like to check as much "stuff" as possible and i don't have many miles...i'll just check my two bags and use Doug's rods...i'll miss my micro eye rods.........BTW 40 for extra bag.......that's 180 each way....don't like back packs......don't like carry on's either....
good luck, PURA VIDA, bluebonnet2

I really don't think they will charge you anything extra for a rod tube...just the same baggage charge that would apply to any normal baggage ($xx for 1st bag....$xx for 2nd, etc). This is the reality of the situation, but you can always draw an a-hole agent, who doesn't know their own company's baggage policy for sporting goods (fishing equipment), and "might" decide that your rod tube is oversized baggage.

Your best option is go to the airline website and print their baggage rules and restrictions. Carry it with you when you check in. I suggest you show the agent the info first before they try to charge you extra. Usually if they know that you got your stuff together, things go pretty smoothly.

Just returned from Pichocas last week,Need to give Anglers Inn a thumbs up for their lodging meals, and personal service shown to everyone in our group, The camp staff was just over the top, freshly made beds each day, great food , fishing was great our group hit the average of 100 bass a day , top water bite was not as good as when I was there in October , one fish caught by another angler went 9.00#, rest. were small to 4 1/2 pounds. Great time was had by all

On picachos, I went through 125 senkos in 4 days. I switched to the 5" biffle bug to cut down on the 1 LBers.

I just got back from El Salto and flew SunCountry through Minneapolis. Guidelines state they only allow 6ft rods. I called the Airline and they said the rod tube could be checked as oversized luggage at $75. Got to the airport and they only charged me the $25 baggage fee.

We continue to whack nice fish at El Salto & Baccarac on the same baits/patterns we've been on the last 2 months. New large group arrives El Salto 3/10 for 4 days fishing. I'll have fresh reports all this week. El Salto water level is still at 72%!!!...highest at this time of the season in 10+ years. Baccarac is at about 50% and is producing numbers and big fish. Last full moon produced some spawners, but it's pretty much over now. Feedbag pattern now through June. Give me a shout if interested.
Best regards,

It's currently at 72% and they are pulling is slow and steady for irrigation now, but recent rains have lessened demand again. I could give you the cubic meters per second extraction data, but you are probably wanting to know physically how fast the high waterline is dropping...and that's about an inch per day in the last few days.
