what is the best Navionics, chart system I can buy for my Lowrance HDS7 gen2 that I can get for 100-150 dollars?

Agree. I was fortunate to win the Platinum edition. Before that, I always purchased the Premium editions. After seeing the differences, I'd recommend paying the difference for the Platinum. I wouldn't hesitate to look for a used one either.

The premium is a great chip, but for me it would be the Platinum or the Nav+. Both of these cards have the sonar charts layer, which is a layer of user recordings that have been stored on the card to improve mapping.

Can the platinum cards be updated? Hotmaps Platinum cards have been updateable since mid 2010 as well as the Hotmaps Premium for a year. A NEW purchase of any Navionics product includes a year of Freshest Data Updates. The Platinum can be renewed and the other cards can be used to activate a Navionics Update card to make it the Navionics+ version. BTW, you cannot update a Platinum card that you did not originaly own if you are considering purchasing a used one. A new purchase takes registering it within 60 days and doing an update to quality for updates.
