My BIL has won a couple of night tournaments on a black jitterbug up in Massachusetts. He says it's the only top water bait that works for him.

It certainly is. I've caught big bass on Jitterbugs from Washington State to Texas to Alabama, day and night. I, too, caught my first "artificial lure bass" on a Jitterbug when I was about 10 years old - back in the Jurassic, I think....and have been hooked ever since. Hula Poppers are much the same.

I have never caught a fish on these things. I have 2 in my tackle box though. I must be doing something wrong.

Great baits for small ponds. A lot of these areas receive tons of fishing pressure when the weather is good. I like these older baits because it's something the bass just don't see on a regular basis. Another great old bait is the Heddon Magnum Torpedo.

I really like the looks of this bait but I'm not paying $22.99 for a lure.

No, thanks.....not for that kind of money. It looks rather like a Heddon Crazy Crawler with a spinner on it's butt, so it should catch a lot of fishermen.

I have a friend that fishes with a couple of his Dad's lures just long enough to catch a bass or two each year.

Like I said.......agree! I catch most of my jitterbug fish while it is sitting still after a short retreive, you gotta let it sit as long as you can stand it.

Works for me...I tried to put this one up first, don't know what happened to it. I always have a jitterbug or a zara spook on one of my rods 100% of the time. It is a great prospecting bait.
