The weather forecast is looking good for a kayak deadsticking trip to Tawakoni this Saturday. Anyone interested? Let's go get some monster Sandies & hybrids.

Dead sticking for sandies & hybrids is my 2nd favorite type of fishing. It's all about reaction. I have plenty if extra tackle if ya wanna join in. You just need a med heavy rod with 15-20 lb line.

Check back tomorrow afternoon. I want to wait to see the forecast in the morning. Tawakoni can be pretty treacherous in the wind. So far it is forecasted to be light out of the N switching to the SSE in the afternoon.

Thanks Lee, Cooper sounds good but I'm in the mood for some hybrid/sandie action. I'll probably drag a line behind for a kittie or two but my main target is sandies. I don't think that the wind will get any better that it is forecasted Saturday. 6 mph out of the NE changing to 4 mph SSE in the afternoon. For Tawakoni that is unheard of so, I have to get out there lol. I leave for Florida Sunday afternoon and there are no hybies to be had there. I'll be gone till Jan 2nd. That's a long time to go without.

Anyway, launching from Holiday @ 7am. FYI it's $5 to park/launch there.
DRESS WARM the high is only going to be 56.
Just in case I'm bringing drift socks. If the wind if what was forecasted we won't need em.
Don't worry if you've never dead sticked it's not hard to pick up.

I will most likely be there. Never been to tawakoni and would love to try it out. Where in florida are you going? I lived in florida for 14 years and still have lots of family there.

Starting off in North Venice (just south of Sarasota) for a week then driving across to Jupiter (just north of Ft. Lauderdale).

I hope the Meteorologists are right. The wind forecast couldn't be any sweeter.
This is rare to get the wind to cooperate on Tawakoni.

Met up with Swagmaster and terry out there this morning. They were cool guys and I had a great time on the lake even though it was cold.

There were tons of birds out there. We ended up paddling around 5 miles chasing birds today.



I ended up with 11 hybrids. This one went 24-25". My biggest fish of the day got off at my kayak before I could get a picture. Swagmaster ended up catching even more fish than I did.


A couple others. I got tired of taking fish pictures so I only got a few pics.



This is how you know you had a good day fishing.....bass thumb.


We hit the water at around 7:30 and got off the water at around 11:30. My feet were frozen!

Thanks for introducing me to tawakoni Swagmaster! Not only was this my first time fishing tawakoni but it was my first time targeting hybrids and stripers. I learned a lot today. I'm hooked! And the best part is I live about 35-40 minutes from there.
