I have found bass lately hiding really close to structure usually shallow but hiding the best they can so they can still ambush prey. Undercut banks next to any kind of timber in the water or big rocks. They are like ninja's this time of year. When its extremely cold they find the deepest water and hide and don't really bite, but they are there. Thats my experience. Makes you think they just packed up left, lol.

Yes it does. One of my spots is covered in dead leaves so I thought I could punch through them with a jig and nothing I tried a small grub with a heavy slip weight to get through the leaves still nothing. I just wanna be able to catch them year round. I have no problem any other time of year just the t3 or 4 cold months can't wait till spring

I blame winter on my wife . It is her favorite time of year so its clearly her fault when I don't have time to fish after work because it gets dark at 5:30.

Creeks with clear water(WRC) holding a lot of small bass, and they are eager to bite. Caught em on crappie jigs, with and without a bobber. All over the place on upper end of creek, upstream from DART light rail all the way up to abrams, maybe beyond! But they are small. but on UL gear, still fun.

This creek i fish has 5 dams spaced about every mile. The weird thing is this creates a almost pond effect between the dams. Some sections are better than others but one thing is this creek does not hold alot of dinks it seems to me that somehow it has been maintained like a good stock tank. There are double digit bass in some of the sections no bs ive got my pb out of it it went 8.6. some sections will be flowing over the dams while the section up stream is almost dry and i have no clue were the water comes from. I do know the creek starts in a wildlife refuge it runs out of a huge private lake so ive concluded that that lake is very well maintained and that leads to the creek reaping the benefits. The bass are the Florida hybrid lmb so they were surely stocked they just wont bite in the winter its really irritating.

Here's my advice since I do very similar fishing to you. Scale down the size of your normal baits and match what they would be feeding on. I've found that by going from a 1/2oz jig to a 1/4oz and slowing way down I was still able to produce some bites. Most of them were smaller but I still caught a 2 pounder which is about the average where I fish in a creek. Just last weekend I was creek fishing and that didn't work at all. I ended up catching 3 small ones fishing weightless worms. Slow is key. Try shad color patterns and some jerkbaits, but work them really slow and don't do hard jerks, pull the bait but only about 1-2 feet at time. Wait 10-15 seconds between pulls and watch your line.

~You won't catch any fish if you don't try!
