Trying to finish setting up my new Epic bay boat and I need some expert advice. I have an ipilot trolling motor with the auto anchoring system built in. With the wind on the Aransas Pass I'm asking if I need a better anchoring system? If i will require another anchor, which is the preferred anchor system, Talon by Minn Kota or Power Pole and which size, 8' or 10'? Thanks in advance

i guess it's personal preference. i like the power pole because of all the flex that it has. i've got a 8' now that's been on the 22 pathfinder for about 10 yrs and it's still working. have had a couple things go wrong, a worn thru hyd line and a sheared or broken 4" bolt at the bottom axis. if the 10' model was available when i bought mine , i would have bought it, but it wasn't. good luck.

I'm running the 8' talon right now before I had the 6' power pole. The power pole was quieter but stuck out when deployed. The talon is taller (not by much) is a bit louder and never changes when up or down. I liked the warranty on power pole alot but feel the talon holds the boat in wind better.

Thanks for the reply, good to know they you would go with a 10' power pole.

12' Talon.....they are really nice. My suggestion, go with someone using one...that will make up your mind

Capt. Andrew, as windy as it gets on Aransas pass it looks like the Talon is the way I'm going to go. Thanks for your reply.

Lee, I went with a guide on Aransas pass and he had a power pole.. When on the oyster shells the pole seemed to move but not very much and, it was pretty windy. I do like the anchor feature on the Talon although, I have read on reviews that it sometimes get struck in the mud and it hard to retract . Thanks for the reply
