I would not recommend the Berkley led green light. I went back to using the ol' floating car light but be sure and carry a battery with you cause it will suck one dry in a few hours.

Academy has some green lights to drop overboard for less than $20. You can buy more expensive on the net and will last longer maybe. You will need a good battery or just get a Coleman lantern and hang it over the side. I have led strip lights all around my boat and use those to attract bait fish. Works well.

I wrapped 32' of 5630 LED around 2" PVC and sealed it w/ clear flex seal. I didn't use the clear PVC. You have to run the power cord to the middle of the PVC and start each LED in the middle and wrap outwards or the LEDs will start to dim after the first 16'. I have 1,200 LEDs that light up a huge area in addition to the 16' that I have on each side of my boat. 5630 are the brightest and 5050 are second brightest. My light cost under $40 and I sincerely doubt that there is anything brighter available on the market.

Nice video. Wish I had seen it before I built mine. Mine work but don't look as "pretty" as these.

I bought a 6' section of clear pvc pipe and made two lights. I used a 16' strip of 5050 Green LED lights in each light while he only used 8' sections in his lights. They do a good job of attracting bait fish to the area.

However I also ran a 16' strip of 5050 green LED lights down each side of the pontoon a couple of weeks later. It turned out that these strips along the side of the pontoon attracted bait fish sufficiently enough that you probably don't need the underwater lights if you do the strips down the side of the boat.

Good results. And from my viewpoint, even more impressive since you made it yourself.

I used 5,600k white LEDs wrapped around a soup can then connected them to two 4' pieces of 2" PVC with a threaded connection in the middle for easier storage in the boat. I also drilled some holes along the length of PVC so it didn't become buoyant. Ignore the glass jar, wasn't sold that the LEDs were 100% waterproof... the first time I put it in the water it became a big bobber so I took it off and crossed my fingers that it wouldn't short out. I was blown away by how much it lit up the water around the boat. When I put one in front and back I would say I have a 30' circle of light under the boat.

So far I have had them submerged for 8hrs at a crack and have had no problems.

Thanks for the posts. I've been looking and the brighter lights on the web are really expensive.
