Hi all,
I'm making a few trips up to Texoma over the next couple of weeks. I've put in at Highport before - is there any other places that are better or that I should checkout? I'm thinking of fishing the islands to the North.... Any advice would be great!

Advice- - go! I fished it with Roger today out of HP, north as you mentioned. Chilly, but windless with full cloud cover all day. Maybe the best day I've had out there. I've had a couple of tough outings recently so it was even sweeter for that. Biiiig fish all day, especially after about 2pm.
If you see the birds working, go to them. Be sure to take some chartreuse cocahoe jigheads and glow bodies. Deadstick stuff too, but the most fun was throwing the cocahoes.. Sassys didn't work for me today, which was surprising. I'm more sold on the cocahoes every time I go out there.
We marked a lot of fish today, but the real jackpot was east/south of the far end of North Island along the Texas side and out to the river channel. We had cruised up the island side and I saw some birds along the Texas bank so we headed over. The birds played put pretty quick but we did get a couple. After that we were deadsticking and getting bit out there close to the channel. The birds eventually came back to show us the way and it was on like donkey kong! I really wish I had a pencil popper in the boat today. These were some big fish blowing up. A sight to see... It was crazy good for a while. At one point, I had 8 fish in 8 casts on the cocahoe. It was like a sandbass run, only in 50 fow and the fish were all bigs (25"-31", most over 10#). That was staying in the birds and really using the side-scan to pick the spot... It was just so fun, I encourage anyone to try it.
Jonah 4:2 I knew that You are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, and one who relents concerning calamity.
