where should a guy try to find crappie who has never kayak fished in winter? we tear em up in spring but not sure where to start on the winter bite

Generally they will be either around deep structure or ledges or back in deep creeks.

Are there any deeper creeks around the east/north-east side of dallas worth trying? all the feeder creeks to lake lavon have been far too shallow in recent years, and I'm not familiar with much else unfortunately.

Crappie hang in shallow creeks and in deep creeks in winter. I was catching crappie In 2ft last weekend at joe pool.
