 Hook holes in bass mouth

Wondering if holes in bass mouth made by fish hooks or by stringer type culling system grow closed.

Yes, they grow shut, but the tear open real easy for a long time.

The reason I asked is because I have been using the culling system that has floats where you can dial in the weight of each fish - can't remember the name. They have a hook like on a stringer and can leave a big hole if the fish rides around with you for a while or if you grab the float to get the bass. Seems to me a big hole would really affect the bass' ability to suck food in. I'm going to look at converting the hook on the floats to a clip. Thanks.

Always penetrate the fishes hop as close to the back Of the jaw as possible
That way it can't rip

Fishing Toledo Bend last year we caught a healthy looking bass that had its lower lip completely broken in half and healed! I was amazed that it had survived such an injury.
