I made a couple of fishing trips with the new Water Wolf in-line camera and got to see what the lake looks like from below the water surface. I learned alot from a short period of filming. The most interesting of all is how often a bass hits your lure and you do not even know it. The first hour and a half I fished with the camera I did not catch a fish and thought I may have had a couple swat at the Alabama rig. After watching the footage, I had over 10 strikes, but most of them would spit it back out before it even registered as a bite to me.

Some of the things I learned:

- You get three times as many strikes if you keep your baits in contact with bottom.
- My water visibility was around 2-4 ft at the surface but it was almost pitch black dark 15+ ft of water. I think this is why you see reaction bites like deep diving cranks excel in deeper water.
- Two bass hit a black camera moving through the water rather than the 6 swimbaits behind it. I think sometimes the profile of a bait matters more than color. I guess they thought it was the size of a small bluegill.
- Never hesitate to set the hook. After seeing this video I will be setting on every small bump now.

Yes, the best thing you can do while fishing it near cover is embed the hooks in the swimbait, kind of like a Texas rig. The alternative is rigging it on a normal jig head with the hooks exposed. When the hooks are exposed you get a better hookup ratio, but you also lose some A-rigs.

Man. Too cool. Maybe that's what's happening to me lately. Been almost two weeks without a catch. Very frustrating.

Wow, that's awesome. I'd be too scared I'd lose the camera one a stump or something. Unbelievable how you get your a-rig through those stumps and brush without getting hung up. This will sure put a new look on how we fish our lures though.
