I am looking to upgrade for older Lcx15 to a newer model on my console. I am looking at the HDS 7 gen 2 and I found a couple online for $630.. My question is can you run two transducers on the unit so I can have 2d while I am running at high speed with current thru hull transducer and can I later add structer scan to have SI? Or is there a better deal anyone knows about? I wouldnt mind a gen 1 if the price was good and it included everything.... I want GPS and downscanning for sure and since I dont want to fork out $1200 or more right now for SI to have the option to add it later would work.. any help would be appreciated...
thanks

to simply answer your question, YES, you can purchase a HDS 7 gen2 with the 2D transducer and buy the StructureScan/LSS2 Module and SS transducer later.
Just a couple things to consider... the HDS TOUCH units have the StructureScan built in, so you won't need to purchase the LSS2 Module in order to have it read StructureScan. Touch units have the ability to connect the transducer directly into the HDS unit. THE LSS2 is about a $500 retail price plus the SS Transducer is about $300.
hope this makes sense.. if you're confused about what the LSS2/StructureScan module is, just reply back here and I'll try to explain it in more detail.

So the newer touch units don't have to have the additional black box which is the structure scan if I understand that correctly.. So be better to wait and get the touch unit and have it all built in...

The HDS 7 touch looks to be about $1000?

Howard, that's correct.. Here's a site to get a HDS 7 TOUCH (83/200 ) $903 http://bbgmarine.com/lowrance-hds7-gen2-touch-insight-83200khz-tm-transducer-p-4984.htmlYou can also call David @ shut up n fish and he will quote you a great price too. The good news is you can use the LCX 15 transducer thats already installed ( blue connectors ) The touch units have several advantages for future options: spotlight scan, easier waypoint management, and a few others. Hope this helps..

Thanks Jeff!! I'll have to check but I don't think my connectors are blue, I think they are grey?
