My dad and I are going to fish squaw creek for the first time this weekend. Any places to avoid, parts of the lake that are better than others? All info is appreciated, can pm me. Thanks

bite was on for us two weeks ago on the upper end, blue fleck power worms and square bills produced about 40 fish. also caught a couple good ones on a 5xd. be prepared to lose some cranks of you throw them. lots of wood around the shoreline but the main lake south of the boat ramp is pretty much wide open. if you see timber slow down, lake is very deep so the timber isn't in play in a lot of areas

We did good a couple weeks
ago on the south end fishing
trees in 10 foot. Don't ask
how we did last week.

Pretty much either side
can be on fire any weekend if not both ends.

We tried the cove on the south side of the island. We went to the north side for a bit. Then went down to the coves by the power plant. Then went to the coves on the north side of the dam.

Been probably a dozen times?? I am just saying its a hard lake to zero on. Even when its tough you can still catch some fish. Its a small power plant lake that is FULL of bass. Yes it can prob be tough on days but even a tough day is gonna get you bites.

Last few weeks it hasn't been a power plant lake
Reactors are down and temps are dropping fast with no current

Yea I went 2 weeks ago. Was really surprised about those water temps. Those fish probably have never been that cold! Its a great lake and we are lucky to get to fish it. I bet it is lights out when she warms back up!

The lake is a little different from the lakes that we usually fish. Lake worth or Arlington don't have trees and are both shallow. Won't learn if you don't try though.

I usually do best on very steep rocky/brushy banks with a shakey head. LIke others had said I have had luck on black and blue as well. I hope that helps. Good luck!

Thank you sir. We'll probably go back within the next week or so and try again. Hopefully on a day of less wind and warmer water.

Bass eat anything you throw at them there. Love fishing it. Red shad power worms and blue/chartreuse med cranks work best for me.

It's the one lake I can go to and expect to catch 10-40 fish. Sometimes get lucky and catch a good one. Mostly 2-3 lbs though. I'll takem all day long though.

The second unit is up and running at 100 percent, one unit never stopped running, you want hot water now you got it, hang on to your rod.

I don't think the second is online yet. It will be soon.

Good news. I'll be taking my first trip there this coming Friday. Where can I find the operation status on my own?

it was a thought day on Friday. dont get me wrong, with the right temp and condition squaw creek is good to fish, Friday was kinda hard with all that wind and the temp. same spot same bait and no fish.. so we were back to the drawing board.

water temp was 71 at the discharge, I thought the temp is usually higher in that area. Bite was tough for us today.

The two people who I know who work out there said it was NOT up and running and temps were at least 10 degrees lower than I figured... So i'm a trust the workers and say not up. We caught 5 fish on 3 different baits... SOOOO we had NO pattern.

How much did it take to win that tourney? the wind SUUUUCKKKEEDDDD
