how do you get access to fish that part of the river? is there a launch to access where yall are catching the crappie? crappie is my fav fish and havnt had a chance to chance to catch any close to sa. canyon and choke are just too low for my comfort. planning a trip to granger. just like that river a lot, and really want to catch crappie. you certainly know where they are.

Thanks Curtis for the reply. cheers I have not made it to Canyon yet. eeks I have heard that the bite is picking up. coolio Friends of mine who live on Dunlap said they got around 3 to 4 inches of rain. clap Like you I sure hope some of the brush piles we located are still there when we go back. hmmm If not guess we find some new ones. nuts

"JGuerO4" : While fishing any of the river lakes fish the main channels and look for brush piles in 14 to 18 feet of water. thumb Also ledges on drop offs in that same depth are holding some fish. dance2 Good luck and hope to see you on the Guadalupe! fish

I was able to make a quick trip to the Guadalupe last Friday. Caught a few scattered fish before lunch. While I was eating my sandwich I put a cork about 4 feet above my Shadpole (chartrueuse over white) and threw out to a good looking stump but where I had never before caught a single fish. The cork went out of site, I dropped my sandwich, and missed. The next cast I caught a weird lmb/striper looking hybrid - all bass features but with clear continuous stripes... Over the next hour I caught 15 really nice crappie off the same stump (about 13 fow). My camera wouldn't work but they looked just like the pictures in Chuck's original post. Thanks Chuck for your regular posts here and in the other sections - I have learned to love fishing the river. I wound up stepping on my sandwich before the excitement was over but is was a small sacrifice...

Glad you found some nice fish! It's only going to get better! clap Also there are some great spots down river in the Seguin and Mcqueeney area! We located a nice bunch just before we got all the rain. They were holding on a brush pile 12 feet deep. coolio

Thank you for that information banker. Sorry it took me a while to respond, been super busy trying to get squared away before break for Christmas. I want to take a trip over there and try getting into a couple just to say ive landed a few from that river. Going to put your info to the test. Thank you. I will post my report once I get out there. Tight lines.

No problem Sir! cheers Right now the fish have scattered due to this recent warm spell. Weather is fixing to change. We have some cold fronts that will be coming in this week and next. Hopefully these fronts will get the fish to stay on or near some brush piles. Right now they are moving and can get hard to find. I have fished four river lakes so far. Dunlap,Mcqueeney,Placid, and Meadow. Fish the main channels and look for drop offs and structure in 12 to 16 feet of water. Jigs Chartreuse/black are working the best. Good luck and hope you find em! thumb
