Fork is the dead horse. Let's face it. The lake is nowhere close to what it was in the past. It seemed to start when all the grass died years ago. Then the fish die off and without grass it's never recovered. Now that it's going to apparently stay low and possibly get lower it will put further economic strains on the area and be just another lake/water source. I hate it as much or more than anyone because I grew up fishing Fork and have owned a place there for several years but I'm sure I'll join others and try to sell it soon.

Fork is not a dead horse. The fish are still there. They did not all die out. You just have to fish it differently than you did when it had all the grass.

SSmagna, I totally agree that lake is the dead sea so there is no need for anyone to fish out there I think there are far better places for folks to fish...;)

Well a 13.88 was caught out of this "dead" lake today. Maybe that will help you sell the place. I know someone looking for a place out there.

A simple joke that is all. Don't understand why a lake being 7ft low is ever a thread on this forum. Low water threads especially fork ones are so pointless unless u are posting GPS cords for stumps

Yea you guys are probably right, the lake is dead, I mean with the low lake levels, salt content rising,over-run with snakeheads, aquatic chupacabras,no grass, completely filled with stumps, and the zebra mussels so bad, they instantly latch on to your TM blade, causing it to lock up,blow fuses and possibly start a electrical fire in the boat Its just an overall bad deal

Headed down to Fork Wednesday. Looks like it will be beautiful weather. Was there in the spring but didn't have any trouble with boat ramps or running as long as I was in the boat lanes. Reading all these threads about the low water level has me a bit worried though.
How are these boat ramps?
2946 154 515 East
Thanks.

2946 has a drop off at the end of the ramp but you can still launch. Be warned though, there is a shallow bar with rocks in front of the ramp. You might consider dropping and using your trolling motor to get away from the immediate ramp area.

Seems to me that the lower the water level the fewer places to launch a boat meaning reduced fishing pressure which ought to increase the number of fish in the lake. I could be wrong, maybe.
