Dragging the boat and the family down to Port O' Conner on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of Thanksgiving week. If the winds stay down I may extend it a little. Any tips on the pattern this time of year? I have never fished the salt this deep into the season. I generally stay in espirito bay unless the winds are calm enough to venture out to the big jetties. I can run safely in about 3 feet of water but really nothing more shallow than that.

Shell reefs will hold a lot of trout right now.

Back lakes are the real play but three feet won't cut it.

Thanks, last time I fished off the south side of bill days reef wich appeared to be a mountain of shells. The forecast for Wednesday is 5- 10 mile an hour winds with a high close to 70. Just calm enough to venture out to the big jetties. Are reds still active around the jetties this time of year?

Good weather is forecast for Thanksgiving weekend.

Pat has some good advice.

I am finding both trout and reds over grass right now in my wade spots in the coastal bend. Shell has been holding only trout.

Big Bayou / Mail boat channel / Mitchell's cut / Old Coast Guard Station. We caught a ton of just under slot sized reds on Sunday in a pocket against the north shoreline of Matagorda Island close to the dock area. Live shrimp on 1/16" oz jig. Pitched it out and then pulled about 10' of line loose to let it sink slow. Then just slow reeled it across the bottom. We ran out of shrimp and the bite was still on.
