I've never been but was thinking about going since it's too windy for my little boat, and I haven't been thumped in a month. I'm having withdrawals do any of you guys fish there? Or is it a waste of time?

I don't know anything about that barge, but fishing is never a waste of time, just some opportunities are better than others - LOL. If you go let us know how you do! I wish somebody would put in a good barge here above deep water. I'd buy a yearly pass!!!!

Been hearing that the morning bite is the best, then it dies down after awhile. Minnows or jigs. Only way to know is to find out for yourself! Have fun and stay warm

I haven't been able to fish this year so don't have any first hand information.
However my slip neigbhor states fishing has been good at night at his slip. His slip is located across from the Joe Pool fishing barge, on the ramp side. He has his slip bushed out and has an underwater mercury vapor light at the front of his slip.

Were you talking about Lynn Creek or Cedar Hill state park barge? The fishing usually better at Lynn Creek

Well I accomplished my two goals.A-get thumped and B- get thumped on my jigs I hand tied. However It was the smallest crappie I've caught all year and one sand bass.only seen two short fish caught while I was there, tried about every color I had in the box .there was tons of shad in there also.

Were you talking about Lynn Creek or Cedar Hill state park barge? The fishing usually better at Lynn Creek I was talking about the Cedar Hill State Park barge. From what I have told by various people who have fished both the last three years the Lynn Creek barge has only been good for catching carp. At one time it was a great crappie barge then they moved it close to shore in the current position to make room for more boat slips in the deeper water.

Hey EZ, the barge is getting better crappie wise. I fished it heavily last winter and spring and did extremely well. There are loads of shad around the entire barge, I'll give it a couple more weeks they will be hitting full swing.
As for as Cedar Hill, I haven't Fisher that place as much. I remember about 2-3 years ago they had a nice run going on over there. Haven't been back since, kinda getting the itch to visit back over that way
