Everyone has their favorite lure. Throw what works for you learn to work your bait, I practice in shallow water to see how it moves if its spinning like a helicopter you won't be catching anything. Keep a popping cork , you can use live shrimp, or a lure on it. I like DOA shrimp, Norton Sand Eels and Chicken Boy 3-4 inch shrimp. and Gulp. Color combinations vary on water color.

Jean Likes Chartreuse! Jean is the Master of Rollover Pass!
Anything that looks like a mullet, shad, or shrimp will catch trout... and in just about any color. It's more important to learn to read the sign on the water (aka reading the water) that will lead you to fish. If you learn how to find the fish, you can just about catch them on anything.... sure the general rat tail, curly tail, and swim tail baits will definitely do the job. On warmer days super spook juniors and one knockers are great as well.
have fun t

topwaters are always my go to. If i can i will throw some live lined shrimp. It really depends on water clarity.

Live Bait = Rattling Cork ( Alameda Rattler) and live shrimp
Soft Plastic = 1/16 or 1/8 oz jig and a plum/chartreuse SW Bass Assassin
Topwater = Rapala Skitterwalk
