 Devils River Report: 9 lb Bass!!

I wanted to share some pictures from my recent kayak trip to the Devils River with everyone. A friend and I put in on the north SNA and took out at the south unit, so we covered 15 miles in 4 days and 3 nights on the water. Fishing for numbers was good two of the days and slow for two of the days. It was on one of the slow days where I caught my new personal best bass, a 9 lber! She fought like crazy and it wasnt until I had her in the net that I realized how big she was. Its pretty humbling to me to catch a fish of this size, especially from my favorite place in the world to fish! Ive got 50+ days on the water on the Devils in the past 12 years and this is my biggest bass from there by over 2 lbs.   I also caught this 4 lber on a top water bait so that was pretty fun too!  My friend Clayton caught this 6 lber as well.  After the trip was over, we paid to take a private tour of some indian pictographs in some caves, pretty neat stuff.  We used Darren Carr of Amistad Expeditions for our shuttle and I would recommend using him, good guy, knows a lot about the area and the river. I took my Big Rig by Jackson Kayak and I absolutely love that boat, but its not the right boat for the Devils, its just too wide to shoot the rapids, I kept getting stuck between boulders. The river has come up some from this summers levels but it is still about a foot low. Pray for rain!
