The six year full circle of using braid on spinning reels. Quality is apparently important. It only took six years for me to learn!

Good stuff. I started using braid this summer, but not on my spinning gear yet. I use six pound mono on my finesse gear and I haven't done any research on making the switch to a lighter braid for it.

This has reminded me that I need to do that. Thanks.

I myself have used braid but never liked it. I just stick to mono and fluro. If i am fishing crazy thick stuff I go to my CHEAP old trusted berkley big game 20lb. I've broke branches off trees and bent over hooks with that stuff and when it does fail sounds like a 22LR going off. I should def open my mind and try new techniques.

KVD Line and Lure Treatment is your friend.

Seriously, take it from someone who hears more ground-level feedback than most. The stuff makes a difference.

The day before you hit the water, go out in the yard and make a cast. Spray some on your spool. Reel it in and spray some more on your spool. Let it dry over night.

Before you launch, repeat the steps. This time, don't wait for the spray to dry.

Works on mono, braid, and fluoro. Also, great for spinning, baitcast, and spincast reels.

Helps with casting distance, accuracy, and memory problems.

Dean, I've heard that a lot today. Going to go pick some up later tonight.

There are lots of brands, but the jury seems to think that the KVD is the best.

Use it myself. Really helps with line twist also.

I also tie my Fluro to the fence and really stretch about 40 yards of it, then as I reel it back on I spray it with line treatment about every 10 yards, this really helps.

Thank you for the article. I have been fishing with braid for a year or so on my bait casting reels. Maybe I have just been lucky but I have less backlashes with it and they seem easier to get out than fluorocarbon. Recently I started using a fluorocarbon leader. I was reluctant at fish because I didn't trust my double uni knots but I kept practicing until I became proficient tying the fluorocarbon leader to the braid. Fishing is a life long learning process for me and moving to braid was one of those learning processes.

I use braid (the good stuff) on my least favorite reel. I'll try the spray a try as well. Thanks for the tip.
