Just talked to Tom and he mentioned something to the fact that grapevine is closing all its ramps? Can anyone confirm it? Sunday or Monday this is supposed to happen?

I can say with confidence twin coves park has been doing a ton of work. They had a bulldozer at the ramp on Tuesday. Didn't get close enough to see what they were doing.

Just talked to my brother who works for the city of Grapevine work is supposed to begin next week. They are lowering lake by 2 feet to install the new ramps. Work should take 2-4 weeks but have budgeted as much as 6 weeks to complete work.

They upped the outflow, lakes down 1ft more as of this morning 522.86ft. Lowest the lake has ever been 518ft. On Oct.31,1981 the lake got 13.5in. rain in 10 hours rose over 30ft. in 72hrs. We need a hurricane bad. By the way conservation pool is 535ft. before 2008 it was 538ft. They dropped 3ft because it flooded and business in Grapevine suffered.

Remember the priorities of the corps:

1. Flood control
2. Water
3. Recreation

They would never flush millions of gallons of water down the drain that they could sell so the city of grapevine could extend its ramps.

According to the City of Grapevine facebook, the increased releases are to support Lake Lewisville Dam repairs. My guess is the COE has been releasing water out of Lewisville to meet Grapevine's obligation to the Park Cities water supply, and the dam repairs require them to stop this release. The current release from grapevine is back at its usual number.

My guess is the city of grapevine is planning on taking advantage of the decreased levels and extend their ramps, which would be closed anyway.

We need to start a letter writing campaign to the inspector general of the department of the interior.

Considering the low water ramp closes before the regular ramp, I think waste and mismanagement likely exists.
