anyway we tried the locations we thought might hold fish early on
some say they migrate to the creeks in the fall you know
and this may very well be true
on yesterdays episode the lower end of the lake was REALLY tough
met a 30 year on the lake fisherman leaving the lake
he says I just tossed 4 dozen shiners in the water !
because we couldn't buy a single crappie bite
I am not wanting to hear that I tell ya
my hurry up to drop the minnow downshifted
and to be sure HE WAS RIGHT ...
1 under under the bridge
I say well at least we didn't get totally skunked ...
then 1 under under a deep dock as well
now mind captain crappie is my back seater ...
he has managed 2 keepers .....
so the one bud who says he wants fish ....
gets at least 2 ....
the spots that have been productive held ALMOST nothing
the bamboo was nada
the bridge was almost nada as well
my best docks were close to nada
anyway we toss him the 2 and head north west to where boat 1 says he is on some fish ....
the turtle did say northwest ya know .....
I think we might have the record on hangs up yesterday
man was that shallow brush some jig eating nasty stuff
but by golly they was packed in it like sardines in a can
really surprised me that they went so shallow
I even managed one or 2 in about 18 inches a water
strung up a few more for our other bud in the canoe
so in this case a bit of partisan behavior was the ticket
wish we knew what we found out sooner
but to be sure never say never
heck I even got me a little baby Mohawk
and several other sunfish size sunfish as well
KABOOM
we were dropping 1/24 1/32 and 1/64 to reduce hang ups and to slow drag the jigs
they wanted the jig drifting around down in that brush
lost quite a few nice fish and missed a bunch as well
ketched quite a few unders we did
but a few thumps beats no thumps all day long in my book
some white some black in the mix
seemed about 50 50 ....
color seemed very optional as well
got bit on everything I tossed pretty much
some did better then others though
SILVER FLASH got in on the action
bigfish a the day bit a LUCKY STRIKE
but my bud did well on his jokers wild SLAB BANDIT as well
I think boat one was pitching BOBBY GARLANDS
so it wasn't really about color it seems yesterday
it was about where the fish were
and the WERE ...VERY SHALLOW
