The day started off by having to lift the bow of the boat off the trailer, ( Long Story ) Started out looking for some bass for a tournament this Saturday, but not much luck there. So around 1 I picked up my crappie pole and started the hunt,

Fished several brush piles, even some of Stubby's and all I was catching were Nice Unders that I spent the morning looking for. Finally found them,

They were around brush in 20 - 22 feet of water. They were anywhere from 6" to 18" off the bottom. Was using a 16th oz hand tied jig, that was gray w/green fleck in it. Drop to bottom, slowly pick it up and by the time you hit about 18" is was game on. They didn't want it moved to much, but when they hit it, they would swallow it.

Ended up with 18 all between 12-16 inches. Caught probably 50 or so all together.

Guess someone was tryin to tell you to forget about them LMB trash fish!

Belinda & I went out Wednesday. Fished a lot of places and only caught a handful of keepers, till we found that they wanted something with pink in it, then it was a whole nuhter story.

Are the ramps at the bridges ok to launch? I want to hit some of those brush piles. Haven't been to fork in a year.

Public ramps are good to go, and so are lot of the others, the only one I know is closed is LFM

Good looking crappie. Fork was one of my three favorite crappie lakes in the 80's when I last lived here. I haven't been able to fish it since I moved back here.

Don't know why people spent so much time chasing green trash fish when there are so many crappie to catch.

And the funny thing is I have caught more and larger green trash fish since I have started fishing exclusively for crappie than I ever caught with I was chasing the green trash fish.
