My first several guided trips on Tbend were in a boat much like that. cheers And going way to fast through the timber.

Been toying with idea of finding a go fast hull like a Stroker, bullet or allison and drop a 2.5l optimax on it (assuming they're more fuel efficient than 3.0) Bet that thing would sip gas and still get upper 70's maybe even 80 with a good set up.

Here is something I posted on another thread, but it will give you an idea of what you can do with an Allison hull and a smaller motor.

A lot of people discount Allison's as being fast and nothing else. With the intro of their more conventional interior designs they really are an economic option for people that fish a lot. They will out perform all comparable boats in top speed and get almost double the fuel mileage of a conventional bassboat. For people that fish a lot, the savings are huge and the boat cost about the same as a comparable bassboat. Just a quick comparison of an Allison with a 200hp and a Nitro Z-9 with a 250hp.

NitroZ9 at 50 mph (4500rpm) got 3.6 MPGs
Allison @ 50.1mph (4500 rpm) got 6.4 MPGs
ALLISONS TOP fuel savings was nearly at 40mph got 7.4 MPGS!

Nitro Z9 ran 65.3 mph (5500rpm) got 3.3 MPGs
Allison ran 69.1 mph (5500 rpm) got 5.3 MPGs

The fastest the Nitro ran was 68.7 WIDE OPEN fuel got worse
The Allison ran 82.1 WIDE OPEN still got 4.1 MPGs enough said.

Here is a picture of what it looked when I bought it

Still running the Johnson 225hp, now spinning a 27p TXP OT4, propshaft set even with the pad, jackplate set at 10".

Wow that's a bigger difference than I expected! I got out of a big boat to save fuel, fishing 2-3 days a week was killing me in gas. Savings aren't all that great because I'm always running wot looking for speed. Now I believe I can get back into a big boat that's even faster than my old one and burn probably even less fuel than I am now, exciting stuff. Funds should be right 2-3 month I think I may make this happen grin

Really like the Stroker I seen had a pretty wide beam for a go fast hull but will be researching a bit more, they're not exactly easy to come by either.
