Looking for a place to take the family camping at Texoma and also be close to Highport. I want to get a little kayak fishing in. I will have the wife and grandkids so I need somewhere fun to preoccupy them while I am chasing stripers. Thanks for any suggestions

Light house and little mineral are both off 289 as well!

Preston Bend Park is a Corp campground, on up the peninsula past the turn for HighPort. Just continue up 289 till after it becomes Preston Bend Rd. Some sites have electrical. Watch out for Poison Oak. You can walk to the lake on that side from several sites and they have a boat ramp.
RealBigReel I don't go too fast but I go pretty far.

Robert, if you aren't opposed to roughing it. No power/restrooms, you might consider mother shipping the family to the islands. It was my first time this passed weekend and it was very enjoyable. I am considering taking my daughter and camping Saturday into Sunday but the roughing it part may keep us on the main land someplace. Let me know what you decide and we might join y'all. My daughter is 9...

Thanks for the advice. Still deciding what we are gonna do. Adrian, I will let you know. We may put it off until the week after Halloween. It would be fun, I have two granddaughters 7 and 11 so they would get along pretty well.

I second all the above. You may also want to consider Eisenhower State Park - not the closest to Highport but only about 15-20 mins - offers a lot for the family to do and some of the best campsites on Texoma IMO. Lots of hiking trails including fossil hunting (look don't take), biking trails, scenic bluffs, swimming/beach area, picnic sites, etc. And they often have events/seminars on weekends so check their schedule. Lots to self-entertain while you are fishing.
