Last month or so my lower unit and engine bracket keeps turning whitish to a point that even using vinegar or CLR is quite a job. The only thing that I have done diffrent was adding mpg gage on to my HDS5 info screen and added on a Minn Kota 318PC built in charger.Any advice would be appreciated.

Add more grounds that jump between each part of the motor or make sure the factory ones are clean and still connected.

Is this 36V system? I would think your problem is in the wiring or the battery charger!

I disconnected all charger leads and will be taking it out soon, will let you know if that was the problem.Hope it is, I'll just put alligator clips on charger leads and be done with it. Also boat is 24volt system with one lead going to main battery. Minn Kota chargers banks are separate from one another.
