October fishing is turning on here on Lake Richland Chambers. The lake 10 feet low but Oak Cove boat ramp is open.

Starting to pick up a few Hybrids and sand bass to go along with our Crappie and Catfish.

Actually have a little top water action some mornings. On this you have to really pay attention to the mix bag of hybrids and sand bass because so many of the hybrids look like a bigger sand bass but when taking a closer look you will notice the small hybrids for the most part have darker lines and the lines are broken.

It's a state law to release all hybrid striper less than 18 inches in length. They are a blast to catch but most of the short hybrids we are catching probably want be 18 inches long until spring time.

I notice the shad I am seeing is getting bigger and it seems like the better fish are showing up to take advantage. We are catching bigger hybrid striper, blue cat catfish and bigger crappie the last few days.

If its schooling sand bass and hybrid striper, I like using the clear baby torpedoes and these game fish just explode on them this time of year.

For blue cat I am using fresh caught shad and mainly targeting the deeper points and humps. Don't forget, it's a state law you must release all blue cat in the slot of 30 to 45 inches long on Richland Chambers.

On the Crappie, its minnows and brush piles in water depths of 10 to 15 ft.
