Planning a camping trip to Caddo Lake (4 nights) and looking for any suggestions... My initial thoughts are to secure a spot at the State Park and then also paddle out to some of the islands to explore and camp 1 or 2 nights out there?

I was thinking that I could just rent a campsite to leave my vehicle at safely and also offer a base of some sort?

Anyone ever done something similar to this at Caddo and have any suggestions or recommendations on other places to camp over the State Park.

Other things I am interested in: good navigational map for Caddo, suggestions on must see places while there and any fishing advice.

Thanks

State Park is probably the best bet for a home base. It is pretty close to everything there and I would think your gear would be safer there than other places around that area. They sell waterproof GPS maps at a lot of the stores in that area. I think it is a pretty good map. They are around $8 or $9. Well worth it.

I went there in August. We stayed in state park. I recommend staying there, but driving into Uncertain to launch closer to main body of lake. We had a blast, very very beautiful. Fished three days. Have some pics that I can post later.
