2 weeks ago on Lake Ray Hubbard, I hit an under water concrete piler. Made the claim with the insurance company that following Monday, every time I call, all I get is I will get back with you in a couple of days. My question is, how long does it take if you total a boat?

Has an adjuster come out and looked at it yet? If not call your agent and have them find out when they plan to do so. After that it shouldn't take long at all. But nothing will happen until the adjuster looks at it.

Depends on the adjuster. He has to write everything up and send it to the insurance company. I would say it will take 3 weeks.

My boat got hit by a Chevy pickup last year, severely damaged the hull and the trailer. The adjuster took about 2 weeks to look at it and deemed the hull and the trailer a total loss. The motor was not damaged so I was gonna end up with just a motor. The drivers insurance was covering it(geico) so I raised he'll with them. It took almost 3 months to settle but, I got a very good settlement and the dealer that was removing my motor bought it as soon as he saw it. Overall a good deal for me sure miss my old boat though

Why do you think there are cheap insurance companies out there? If the number 1 insurer in the US has to charge a certain premium to make sure your claims are paid then how can any other charge less and pay their claims?

It is rarely the insurance company that is the problem. 9 times out of 10 it is usually the agent. If you have an agent that will work for you, then the process is usually smooth and quick. If you have a lazy agent, well you know how productive that will be. I am a US vet and use Liberty Mutual through USAA for my car insurance. No problems that I can report. But for my boat, I went through Bob and that is the only way to go for me. Good luck on your claim.

I lost one in 04 in a boat shed fire and it took me almost 4 months to get a settlement that I would accept.

I'll be going with Bob Luellen when my new boat gets here. I had my current boat insured through State Farm and thank God I never had a boat claim with them. They hosed me on a RV claim a couple of years ago and I cancelled by boat policy. I'm waiting for a fault accident to go off my record and when it does, I'm dumping them for everything I've got. They're gonna miss me, three vehicles, an RV, a boat, and household contents on my condo.

BTW, the premium on the boat with State Farm was twice what Bob quoted me.
