Seeing lots of tiny, tiny threadfin shad (pinkynail size) in several lakes over the last couple of weeks . Did they spawn twice this year?

Yep they'll spawn when the water gets back into the 70's this time of year.

I think shad spawn several times per year every year.

According to the Biologist they will continue to spawn over and over until their numbers reach a certain level. Water temp was not a factor as long as it is warm enough! I found eggs on a tree in the middle of August and sent a picture to a biologist and his guess was it was Threadfin continuing to spawn. When catching Shad for striper fishing I am seeing several age groups for thread fins as proof of multiple spawns this summer. Seeing some threadfin that lived thru the winter as well because they are darn near 7" long!
