I hate to chime in on this but I've been wanting a new or new to me rig for a few years and raising a family has had that on a permanent hold and I come on here and whine about it; sorry guys, I know ya'll are tired of it so I have curtailed myself from doing that. I just wanted to pose a question for thought. Could the perfect storm be brewing to lower the cost of purchasing a new rig? With lower oil cost and oil being the primary raw material component of a fiberglass/composite boat if oil prices continue to drop and stay down long term do see boat prices following suite? I'd like to hear answers from folks in the industry................ and oh by the way I'm bug crazy TZX and ZX lines for sure............

even if oil prices magically dropped 10-30% or higher and stayed there long term 2+ years, boat prices will never come down, the market is set on what the consumer will pay. you never see anything at a lower cost anymore, just think what the price of consumer products will be at 10, 20, 30 years from now. i'm in the market for a new boat and will be buying within the next 3-4 months, i can afford the newer boats 40-50k just having a hard time justifying buying one when my time of fishing is limited, but i'm gonna bite the bullet and get one either new or used cause i just get darn tired of working too much lol, i need some down time..
we can only wish but it ain't happening.

My 06 is paid for and is still in great shape. If, god forbid, something happens to the motor then I will probably re-power as opposed to buying a new boat. I love not having a payment.

I spent many years fishing in all the brands of bass boats from 17'-20' and caught fish in all of them. I've never been "brand loyal" but after owning 35+ boats during my lifetime, I have opinions based on my personal experiences. I refuse to pay $40k-$50k for a bass boat that sits on the trailer most of the time. Also, I decided I wanted an 18-19 ft boat which is normally less money. After looking and comparing the 18-19 ft boats, I decided to purchase a "NEW" 2013 Nitro Z7 with Mercury 150 ProXS. If I decided to buy another boat I would start over and compare features, price, and dealer. My local Tracker dealer in Beaumont ordered exactly what I requested on my Z7 and called me when it arrived. Easy to deal with.....dealer makes a big difference to me so if there wasn't a dealer near me, then I might have purchased another brand.

It will be a skeeter for sure . My main reason for this is how much they give to our community . They are hands down one of the biggest supporters of our youth in many different organizations. And they give back on the adult side also. And I will buy it from fun n sun because they give back as well . at least buying a skeeter I feel like I get some money back.

pretty sure all boats that run over 70 have a lil chime just takes a lil A$$ time to learn how to crorrect it. My cat had it around 76-78 and smooth 79-82 ( Cougar FTD ) Looking for my next one now will be Bass Cat Eyra or Cougar

So I have had two ZX200's, 1995 and a 2005. Had twins two years ago and thought I would get out of fishing for a couple of years so sold the 2005 back in July. It wasn't one month and I was bummed by not having a boat.
I have been talking to wife about a Legend and she has ridden in one a couple times and she just could not get away from a Skeeter. I wanted a Legend. She said no. She wanted another Skeeter. So trade off was I could go to a single console if I bought another Skeeter. So I purchased a ZX20 with a 250 SHO single console and I have been impressed. Bumped 74 with it under slight chop full load.
The only issue for me was I went to our local Skeeter dealer and was not happy with the service or sales so I shopped on the Internet and found the exact boat I wanted and negotiated everything over the phone. So I ended up buying out of state and wished I would of gave another Skeeter dealer an opportunity in Texas to sell me a boat that way if I have issues I feel like I may get the right service I needed.
I have been very fortunate to find a Certified Yamaha mechanic that I like and they said they will be happy to take care of the motor.
Good Luck

It's "chine" when referring to bass boat construction and handling. The strakes (ribs) on the bottom of the hull are also referred to as "chines". The rocking right to left that some bass boats exhibit while at speed is referred to as "chine walking".
If I were going to replace my Puma, it would be with another Bass Cat, probably a Puma FTD.

Just for giggles I have a question. When on forums such as this you see less people wanting Rangers or talking about Rangers. Majority of people now are wanting pheonix, basscat, and legend. Why is this hahaha

I just bought a Phoenix and hope it's the last boat I ever buy. I like it more every time I take it out and if I had to do it again it would be another Phoenix.

I bought a 2014 Legend Alpha 211 new in December last year and absolutely love it. I've had so many compliments on it. It rides really good and can take some rough water. IMO, it definitely ranks with the Rangers and the Skeeters. If I was in the market now I would, no doubt, buy another Legend!

Currently running a BassCat Eyra. If I was going to replace it tomorrow, I'd probably go with a Bug boat. While the performance and rough water ability of a Skeeter IMO isn't on par with BCB, the fishability of a bug is unbeatable. The older I get the more I come to appreciate the ability to easily move around a boat, stability etc. That and the fact that one of my first boats was a Skeeter Starfire, so nostalgia plays a role also.

It will be another Ranger. Kidneys are fine Same here. Body parts are still good after 15 years and I think the overall platform is more important than anything else and a 520 is the best overall platform.

Just bought a new Ranger Z520C with a 250 Pro XS. It will probably be my last boat at my age, but if something happened to it I would buy another one just like it.

I'm running an 08 Champion 210 and at my age I doubt I will need to replace it. There is a good chance though I will downsize someday. In that event I will be in a 15 aluminum flat with a 40 hp.

pretty sure all boats that run over 70 have a lil chime just takes a lil A$$ time to learn how to crorrect it. My cat had it around 76-78 and smooth 79-82 ( Cougar FTD ) Looking for my next one now will be Bass Cat Eyra or Cougar I'll be getting another FX 20. All boats do not chine walk over 70.... The cat is probably faster though.

Just for giggles I have a question. When on forums such as this you see less people wanting Rangers or talking about Rangers. Majority of people now are wanting pheonix, basscat, and legend. Why is this hahaha Yet Ranger, Skeeter, Nitro and Triton still far outsell the ones you mentioned. Sounds like a lot of people talking but the ones doing the buying are sticking with the bigger brands. I owned one of the 3 brands you listed. I had it the shortest time of any boat I have owned.

My 06 is paid for and is still in great shape. If, god forbid, something happens to the motor then I will probably re-power as opposed to buying a new boat. I love not having a payment. My Z520 is newer but I agree with you. Its paid for, looks and runs great but most of all its as dependable a boat I have owned. Unless I find a great deal on another Z520 I will probably keep this one for a good while.

Bass Cat or Skeeter. I currently have a Triton and I really like it, but I will upgrade in a few years and my first choice will be Bass Cat or Skeeter. But I won't buy a new one, so it really depends on the best deal I can find on a lightly used, well maintained boat.

Really? You must not be "hearing" from too many people, sport. There is a poll in this section asking "what will be your next boat?" Skeeter 22% Ranger 17% BassCat 13% Champion 10% Triton 10% Legend 4% Phonenix 3%

Not too sure when I will get another boat. Made my last payment on mine last month (great feeling) and although she isn't as pretty as she first was, there's absolutely wrong with her.
No matter what happens, it will say Skeeter on it.

Ranger Z521 or Triton TR21. Our 17-year old Triton has been very good to us, and Ranger has impressed me more than any non-Triton boat manufacturer of the ones I've ridden in. So it'll be one of those two.
I think Skeeter makes a good boat, but not being able to get it with anything but a Yamaha is a deal-breaker. They're my 3rd favorite motor manufacturer.

Maybe a Triton 21 TRX with a 300 XS, a boat that will ride like a cadilac and run like bat out of hell.

Well considering we just got a new Z-6, we hopefully won't be in the market for awhile. If money were no object and I had to get a new one it would be the Z21 or Z-9. Huge front decks.

If I were in the market for another boat I would look at Bass Cat and Phoenix, but as for now my 2004 Bass Cat is doing fine and its paid for.

I'll be in my Stratos. First and will be my only bass boat. Put way too much money in it but, it's top of the Stratos line now, well minus the larger engine and to my liking. Hydraulic steering is the last add-on and should make a big difference. Not the best, not the worst but mine and ALL PAID FOR!

I've owned a Top Tenner and a Procraft in the 70's. Quit boat fishing for about 8 years while kids and work were my main focus. I owned one Skeeter and 3 Rangers starting in 1987 till I bought my used Allison in 2005.
I still own the Allison and my only wish is for a larger one.

It's not new but new to me, I got a 20i this year, you talk about impressed with a ride I am! My last was a Triton, I have friends with Ranger, Legend, Basscat, Stratos and a brother in law with a 210 Champion and I've been in all of them on Amistad during rough conditions. I may give up a few miles per hr loaded in my Skeeter but in my opinion there's no comparison in the ride, if I had to pick another it would be the 210 Champion. Just my opinion for what it's worth which probably isn't much.

I've been in many boats.... They are all nice these days. I'll probably stick which skeeter. My cousin has a legend but the deck Is not wide enough for me, although I did see on their website they are making a wider one now. I love the ride of a ranger but I'm not paying that much for a new one. I've never had the chance to ride in a bass cat but i see the price tag on them. I feel the zx is a great boat for the $$$$

Have owned an Astro, 2 Skeeters, and a Triton. I have ridden and fished in just about all conditions in Bass Cats, Rangers, Champions, and Nitro's. They all have qualities that stand out but when when it comes to the most important part (at least for me) of troll motor down and actually fishing out of a boat, nothing comes to close to Skeeter. I feel like I am on the deck of an aircraft carrier. So unless they change their design, Skeeter is gonna be my first choice.

Legend, Phoenix or Basscat are on my list. I currently own a Z118 its a 2012. Im going to get alot of slack for this but, im not happy with it all the carpet is peeling up, the ignition has been replaced twice all the foam in the seats have shifted, my console was spider cracked from factory and all the rubber pads are falling. So cosmetically its [censored] and I don't know if I want a other. The boat rides nice but the quality control got to.have to step up.

I just picked up my 2014 Fx21 from Fun N Sun in Hurst. Great Dealer staff was awesome Fain is who I worked with. The boat is second to none, great to fish out of and a joy to be in.
So I say stay with Skeeter but maybe try the Fx series.

Hopefully the one I have now will last me as long as I can still fish. It is 22 yrs old now, so maybe I can get another 22 yrs out of it. But if I were going to buy another one it would be a Ranger 518 or 519.

I have fished out of just about all of them with the exception of an Allison, and am currently a Skeeter owner. Next boat will definitely be another Skeeter, an FX21 is what I see in my future.
I am not making any decisions until the bourbon kicks in!

honestly probably whatever I find a good deal on. my current boat is a 1980 caravelle stinger 15'4. it does not handle rough water and only goes 32mph which I do every were I go. can not cruis at 20mph and try to get to point A or B. its too slow, original motor and my grand father was the original owner then gave it to my dad then my dad gave it to me when he passed. I have rode in a nitro, skeeter, and legend. Not counting older boats like pro craft, tide craft etc... When all said and done I want the cheapest deal I can find as long as the deck is huge and no wood. Must be a sound boat and well taken care of. So I have been looking for nitro's despite all the bs and rumors you hear. I don't ever plan on selling the boat when I get it so who cares about resale!

I have a 04' sx190, and it's still in great condition, always stayed in boat shed. I plan on getting a newer to me, will have to stay with the skeeter, but will be longer for a smoother ride when on rough water. But that will be few years yet. After the first of year I'm going to put some new electronics in and do what is does best, fish it
Skeeter/Yamaha and Love to feel something on the other end!! Lol

Glass - Skeeter. Aluminum - Ranger. Glass or Aluminum depends on what the market does in the next seven years before I retire. Until then it is whatever the guide is driving.

If i ever wear out my ZX225 i will probably get another Skeeter. Only other boat i have ever been in that fishes as good was a Ranger. If i could afford a second boat, i would have me a go fast 90+mph Allison.
I hate photobucket.
