Hello all,

I have enjoyed speaking with a lot of you recently about trolling for Crappie. And as I have said, I feel that I am more lucky then good at being consistent at catching Crappie while trolling.

I am a firm believer that if you want to become an expert at something don't try to reinvent the wheel, learn from those who you feel are the experts. I highly recommend you hire one of the Crappie Guides on this forum and pick their brains. I have used the services of several of the guides from this forum and have learned something from each of them. I believe each trip was an investment well spent.

We all have heard the term "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he will eat for a life time". While catching a boat load of fish with a guide is fun, what I am looking for on my guide trip are techniques I can learn that I can duplicate on any body of water.

I also highly recommend you invest in 2 videos (1) Ernest Paty Crappie Fishing 101 and (2) Jerry Hancock & Paul O'Bier Trolling for Crappie, I have watched both those videos no less then 100 times each. (I am not exaggerating on those numbers.)

Those who have spoken to me know that I am a Computer Tech so I have to know how to use all the different gadgets on my electronics so I have also purchased several DVD's on fine tunning my electronics. I am in the process of learning to create my own TOPO Maps got a new GPS device for my laptop in the mail last night (Don't let my wife know that :-))

I have also accumulated over the time from another fishing site a number of screen shots of fish finders with explanations of what is being shown on the screen.

Hope you can learn something from them. If the print is to small to read email me at tsteele@cableone.net and I will send you a PDF copy of the screen shots:

That was the best post I have EVER seen on this site!! That is what I call educating fellow fisherman. My eyes hurt a little, but I'll go back and read this post several times regardless of font size! Thanks my man, this really helps me out alot!!
