Hi all
Probably a strange question but have any of you ever used a washing line retractable reel for keeping your anchor line on. I hate rope laying around the kayak and was looking for an alternative when I saw one of these reels in Lowes

Interesting question. I have heard of some canoe/kayakers using a 50 lb retractable dog leash to pull up a light weight anchor. I too find all the extra line in the kayak a problem because I fly fish exclusively.

I was thinking of using paracord and at least the automatic retractor would keep it out of the way

My problem hasn't been the line but the anchor. Got done fishing today and pulled up to the boat ramp and there was a couple fishing. The guy got hung up on something, I hadn't gotten out yet so I paddled over to his float. He was hung up good but I managed to save his float, sinker and swivel. During the little tug of war I must have released the anchor. Now I am hung up and can't go anywhere. I have my anchor come off the back of the yak. Finally I am able to pull it up, still hung up. Someone, trying to be polite here, sometime in the past had run a trout line and left it. When I got it up I had 6 hooks, 4 jigs, trout line, couple sinkers and a rock tangled up in the anchor. Not only is it a boat ramp but a small fishing pier and someone runs a damn trout line 15 yards off the dock and pier down river across them!!! It has been there a while, the line was a nice green.

My personal best is still swimming out there just getting bigger. One of these days I will quit feeding it.

I watched that video, very informative. The clothes line looks like the answer.
I like the idea but will have to figure out a way to make it work on the Pescador.
I do not use a crate, but instead my cart fits in the back.

There is this one also, he mounts it to his seat with a velcro strap at 35.30 minute mark.

Seems like a good idea. I dont like spare line lying around. I feel that if "worst case scenario" the line might get wrapped around me and cause problems.
I keep all rope/ line in the milk crate behind me, and a shark knife on me.
