Kind of hard question.... Just one. They all kind of work together, finding, staying, etc. If I had to say just one, it would have to be the Lowrance HDS 8 with sidescan.

Really digging the downscan/2d overlay on my HDS lately.

My boat came from the factory with my HDS units installed so I would have to say power poles hands down, or gas

Yes, mine is also the 101 fortex with agm batteries- count that as one thing. I like the larger tm - I have a fairly light 18 ft bass cat sabre ftd but I love the added 101 tm.
A really good smooth strong tm with strong long lasting batteries is about the best one add on for any boat that is missing it IMO.

Barring all the obvious expensive electronics and various type and versions of the power pole/talon, the best thing I added was a customer trailer step. After looking at the one on Ranger Boat trailer frame-mounted steps and pricing it, I got together with a fishing buddy who could also weld, we designed a customer frame-mounted step that not only fit my rig perfectly, but we were able to apply a matching paint job and diamond plate the top of it at a fraction of the price to buy one. New boat will get the same treatment. Great for quick access/exit to boat and for safety reasons

Since everyone will pretty much agree that the electronics are the best, I'll just say that my favorite change was adding nice wheels to the trailer and since that is not the boat, I'll say ram-mounts on the front and back. It is so nice to be able to reach everything without having to bend over very far.

36W spot flood combo mounted to the front of my hds9 on a balzout mount.
I can see 2+ buoys ahead and never have to get the handheld spotlight out.
Probably one of the cheapest upgrades as well. Less than $75 for all.

Bet you had me in mind on the lights that you added. Glad you did that and I believe that was the right spot on your rig to add them.

Coming to that time of year, if you really going to buy a rig, to find a good boat cheaper than any other time of year! Look here, and any other places you can find.
I can't list them as a violation of policy here I believe.

I was going to say upgraded electronics but changed my mind. A sea anchor has made a huge difference in my fishing. Better boat control, less drain on my battery, easier to deploy and pull up than the anchor.

I want power poles but they just don't make sense on a boat in my price range. It is hands down the best $40 that I have spent

My 8 yr old grandson & if I can add one more it would be an extra PFD

Power Poles....Use them all year long.

I have been under the impression it is illegal to use any kind of 'spot light/head light' when underway. Could be wrong but sure better check. It not only causes you loss of vision of everything around you but blinds any/all boaters in your path.
You need to check.

I bought a boat with a power pole already installed, if you fish alone this is a great addition. In Abilene and surrounding area you can't put a boat on the bank due to huge rocks and 20 mph wind. The pole will hold your boat. That pays for itself

Going from 24v motor to 36v. Used to run outa juice in heavy winds but not anymore. Would like some talons but not sure if I can mount them.

funny I seen drain plugs earlier... before I received my new Ranger I called Ranger parts and ordered a screw-in type drain plug to replace the remote drain plug that comes standard on the new Rangers, the old style thankfully uses the same screw pattern so a little sealant and I was back to a secure drain plug...that is the best thing i added to my new boat !!!! x 1,000,000,000 some folks might think i'm nuts but a hole in the boat should not be left up to a open closed lever that could work free in vibration caused by the outboard or pounding waves...just my 2 cents...

Sure is a pain remembering and removing drain plug now at the ramp before trailing..

I just sold my boat but the best thing I added was a set of Easy Steps. Getting older and out of shape these things are great. Makes it very easy to launch and recover by yourself. Also alot nicer than crawling in and out of the back of the boat.
