I thought I would start a thread rather than clutter up the Trece Tuna thread.
I've been watching several threads and settled on this one to try. First one seems to hold.

I've also seen enough to know you don't really need any expensive needles to do most of this stuff. Some solid leader wire and a bobbin and you can do most of this stuff. I already have the needles.

Pretty cool. I wonder can you just buy a short length of hollow and have a solid braid/hollow braid splice on one end and a mono/hollow braid splice on the other?

I tied this a couple more times. Its a challenge without a line holder jig.
I'm getting the hang of it but it still takes me about 15 minutes to tie. I'll get quicker. The finished serve is about as narrow a connection as you can get.

I'll try it out this weekend, hopefully on numerous large fish to see how it holds up.

Can someone explain how the Feds count recreational Red Snapper catch?

Thanks for the info and link. Though I don't get to fish offshore, it would be nice to use the same technique on smaller line...

Thanks again
