I've always kind of thought Lufkin is a dump. Say What!! Okay, but they have a Walmart.

I've always kind of thought Lufkin is a dump. Say What!! Okay, but they have a Walmart. I lived in nacogdoches for 4 years and had to go to lufkin quite a bit. It's pretty trashy.

Interesting fact - most major highways (take 287 for example) have a town every 15 miles or so because back in the days of steam locomotives, they would have to stop every 15 miles to take on water. These water stops turned into all these small towns that we presently have. Since the steam locomotives no longer exist these small towns have had to try to survive on those drivers just passing through (gas, food, auto repair, etc.). Notice now that every other town along 287 are relatively dead while the towns in between are surviving to some degree.

But not the Walmart. SO what is trashy about Lufkin? I just drive in on 59, go to Walmart, the movies, and Which Wich or Chic-Fil-a or Logan's Road House, then Lowes and back home.

I'll second Rosebud. There are some nice people there, but folks have no reason to stop long enough to get to know them.
