I'm looking to buy a new baitcaser in the $200 range. I was looking at the new Curado 200 but after reading about all the problems I want to find another one. I only own one other baitcast reel so I don't have a lot of knowdledge about them but would like to get a high quality one.
So what's your favorite reel in that price range?
How come I keep catching small fish when every product I buy is supposed to catch more and bigger fish?

abu Garcia Revo STX is a smooth reel, but everyone has their own preference.

Tackle warehouse has Lew's team gold reals for 205......doubt there is a better real for that money

Just my opinion, but like you I am recently a newer fisherman. I would ask you take a look at the Diawa Tartula 'R' series. I say 'R' because they also offer an 'H' but it uses plastic gears. The 'R' series has metal gears. Carlos Rivera on here, River A Tackle can offer you the far better price I believe than you will find anywhere on this reel. The list price on the reel is just under $200 but he will do MUCH better than that. Anyway it was discussed at the annual I CAST and throws fantastically! Revo SX - around $150
Revo STX - $200
Best reels out there for the money. Buy on eBay and you can get the STX for $160-170 with no tax and free shipping.

I'm using the Shimano Cardiff. I don't want to keep a bunch of reels with different speed ratios and these are about middle of the road at 5.8:1. I mostly plastic fish so speed isn't a factor with me. You can pick one up for about $100 so you don't break the bank. Been using them for a couple years now without problems. Good fishin!

There are many good reels out here. Try as many as you can, find the one you like. All the above sound to be good reels. Am assuming you are talking about bait casting reels. Most on here will also want to know what type of bait you are using or prefer to use, soft baits/hard baits/worm rod/etc. Good luck

I have several Revo STX In excellent mechanical condition with minor scuffing and would let you pick the best three for $200. that's the best deal.

That's a good deal. I love my stx's. I do have 1 Lews reel and it's ok but prefer my revos over the Lews.
