I have read all the reviews, and they are all great, I am just wondering if they are worth the money? How do the compare to the new Curado's? Anyone that has used both, is the difference that substantial? I may be able to get a deal on a few Cores, so I am just looking at all options, and wanting some real opinions.

I have Cores, old green Curados, old Chronarchs, and the new Chronarchs.

I love the Cores, favorite reel. However, some may like the new Chronarchs with the new Infinity braking system. I don't like the new braking system, smoother and cast further than a Core, but then it reaches up and bites your head off every hundred casts.

Core reels are the best I've ever used. They require very little maintenance over time.

The core mg 50 is the best in my opinion. Very light reel and easy to throw all day long, no fatigue at the end of the day!

The Shimano Core is a fantastic reel! I have the 101mg and it's phenomenal! I like the Curado's and Chronarch's but I feel the Core is at a different level.

My main reels are all core's. I use them for any application, finesse jigs, 1oz jigs, carolina rigs, big 10xd's and shallow squarebills. I do alot of flipping with a 3/16oz bitsy bug jig with a small trailer on mine on a heavy flipping pole and 20lb flourocarbon line. Very versitile reels imo....

I have the MG and love it. If they put the bigger handle on it that would make it pretty darn sweet. If I had the $$ I'd get more. The white chronarch is a very similar reel with a better price point. It also has the good handle.

And I like it but it has been acting up lately, I'm going to have the guys at southwest look at it. I would think the cores are quite a bit better than those reels since they are twice as much. I really like the new curados. I have two of the new ones and I really appreciate any input, I would love to see how the cores compare to those new curados. IMO the new curados are better than the white chronarchs but maybe I feel like that because my curados are new and my chronarch is a few years old and has been used a lot.

What are your chronarchs doing? Its a pretty rugged design.

I soaked the bearings in kerosene then lightning lubed them plus clean and greased the gears in my e series curado and new chronarchs, makes them really sweet reels.

I have 2 Cores and they are fantastic. I would never consider selling them. The E Series Shimano's are very good reels also but not on the level of the Core. I also have the new I series and still like the Core better.

The Cores are my dedicated jig reels because pitching a jig is my favorite way to fish, and they do that job very well.

The Spool has a little wobble in it especially when the button is engaged, thats the best way I can describe it. The spool is not tight, but my other Shimano's they are. I noticed on the Core's that there is a bracket (for lack of a better term) that holds the spool in tight so it never, ever moves, and doesn't come right out if you take the side plate off the reel.

I have one white chronarch (couple of years old) that casts a mile and only one Core. The core doesn't cast quite as far but it is still my favorite. I have a bunch of the E Shimanos and none are as nice as the Core, or white chronarch for that matter....

I bought a half dozen Cores last year and sold the 50E's they replaced here on the Trading Post. The Cores are the equal of the Curados but lighter which means a lot to me. I don't feel they cast better or are smoother but the lighter weight is easier on the elbow and shoulder and gives a little better sensitivity imho

I'd contact shimano and see if they'd warranty it out.
