Around here on my local lake, the water temp was 75 degrees! It's going to be the 1st 2 weeks of November, as usual.
Probing brush for crappie is my game!

Yes. Feeder creek north of lake Lewisville. I started back up for crappie on the last day of summer. I have been 6 times from that date, and have been doing well every day but one. I cant tell you how many sand bass I have thrown back that were keepers, because I don't keep count on them. And I don't keep them because they don't clean as easy as crappie, pluss they don't taste as good. I usually fish from October to May for crappie in the local creeks. I stop fishing it in May due to the large amount of snakes, tall grass covers the trail from all the new spring growth. Plus that late in the spring the gar show up in large numbers.
Did you see the size of that chicken?!.

Went again today and it looks like they are really moving in there thick. Shad are up n down the creek. Looks like the fish are following. Should be great fishing in the next couple of weeks.
Caught 10 keepers today all 11in n up. Jig n bobber 2-4ft down holding really tight to structure.

Try the white, grey, silver grey all with a little black, purple, are blue mixed in. Anything that looks like a shad. They are back in the creeks but so far they have been small for me.

Was going to take some cinder blocks and get some piles going this weekend in my jonboat, plus take the saw and cut some that may impede my kayak outings. I may take a rod now, I am told first few cold fronts get them moving. We have had a couple of cool offs so far but nothing real big, will post up my results.

I don't keep count on them. And I don't keep them because they don't clean as easy as crappie
Now there's some truth. I have to re sharpen my fillet knife after every sandbass but can clean a ice chest full of crappie without having to sharpen. No red meat trim off either.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

You are going to get 10 different answers. For us it was best last year in the mid 60's. I wont really get after them until November when flounder limit goes down to 2. Last year was first time I really got some good ones, will take some detailed notes this year.

The big migration of Crappie to the creeks usually happen (depending on specific body of water) when the water temp goes below 55 degrees. Just my observation.

I'll mainly be fishing Lewisville so it sounds like I should just start checking when the water gets down around 65.

I was catching one on every cast near the mouth of East Fork Trinity, but every single one was 8-9". All caught on Thermocline soft plastic- can't remember the color- green something. Anyway- the crappie were in 6FOW and hitting it on the fall- so they are there. Tons of shad.

The question is not when will the crappie move to the creeks but rather when will the shad move to the creeks. When the shad migrate up stream the crappie will be in hot pursuit. Sometimes the fishing is great and while other times the crappie will no touch your bait because they have thousands of shad to feed on. Water temp is the determining factor as to when they move up. The colder it gets the better it gets.

Guide what are your rates Rates aren't set in stone yet but I am thinking of 150$ (1-2 people) for a half day and 250$ (1-2 people) for a full day. Will be scouting my creeks next week getting ready to guide this winter. Should be a few in them. I want to go! I gotcha Brian! If I can ever get a Sunday off then I will let you know. Hopefully, around the beginning of December.

There are some lakes that you can catch them up in the creeks all year long. Lake Eufaula in OK is an example. In the heat of July, you can catch good numbers of crappie in less than 6' of water, dippin sunken tree limbs and stumps. I'm sure it has something to do with the oxygen content of the water.

The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?
