I wonder why numbers are so low? As of Tuesday there was only like 85 pros signed up...

I am sure we will end up with around 100, and unless I am mistaken, I think that is about all that has shown up at each event(100-110), not sure if it deterred people with the schedule being all Rayburn or Tbend but the numbers have def dropped off.

I might be wrong but didn't they go to 1500$ instead of 1000$

I'd fish it if they dropped the entry fees a little and spread it across the stte. Texas isn't a strong pro/am format state like other parts of the country. The problem with Texas is that there are so many good team trails most guys prefer that option. It's less expensive, you fish with a buddy, and the lakes are close to home. There's a successful formula in there somewhere they just haven't figured it out.

To much money. not many can afford 1500 entry and another grand in expenses for fun. when it was 750.00 you had to fight to get in . now it is show and pay. Then to add Sam aledo is like vegas. The money that comes to rayburn stays at rayburn

As long as they stay on Toledo and Rayburn, they are only going to get locals. They need to spread it around the state and let the guys from Rayburn and Toledo come to Someone else's home water. Local guides are hard to beat on their home water. This is a professional level tournament series catering to a few people. The old format was good, it spread it all across Texas and made it a little more even playing field. I know this will probably upset some people, but I bet there are a lot more out there that feel the same way I do. I also think if they want to increase the numbers they need to include a DFW area lake.

On all lakes no matter the trail money is always likely to stay in the area. Not sure what the actual problem is there.

Problem is locals from Rayburn and Toledo prolly wont want to go to other places.

As said in several other threads, Texas just has too many trails now. The anglers are spread thin.

Another big factor I think comes into play is the lack of timely releasing a schedule. Mosts schedules are out by now and folks are making commitments. "I would have fished Rayovac, but I already committed to fishing Platinum team trail with my buddy..." To get good turnout, they need to release schedules early and be fairly consistent one year to another. Keep Rayburn and Toledo, but make sure to have a couples of other tournaments that go to Amistad, Falcon, Texoma, Travis, etc.

Another thing they could do that would fill the fields would be to make it more like TTT used to be where ranger contingency money was paid to the top 30 places.

Rayburn is a good lake for this tournament it is FLW Pro Tour, but all threads are close, and the main hold back is local guides that are pro's which are allowed to fish. Not normal for pro tournaments, and allowed to pre-fish up until day before tournament day! I'm not a guide but do fish as a pro, and have seen several top FLW pro's on the lake, sad news Rayburn turned over, and has made it hard for them and local guides, so makes the playing field more equal for pro's coming in to this Great Lake. Cool weather and a little rain may through the fish in a different pattern, fall baby!

Same guys will do good as they always do because they are GOOD, not because of the lake....

So Jaret you are saying you will give a local guide a week to practice then travel to his lake and drop $ 1,500 on a head to head competition. Winner take all. I doubt it. I am not saying the locals are not good sticks. They are too good, and too consistant. For someone to compete against and be successful if they don't live in that one area.I don't have a problem with fishing against them ( on their lake ) sometimes just not every time. Mix it up some is all I am saying and they may get more entries.
