Go on a cpl of the $50 seat trips on Lavon with Capt or Dooley and you will learn things you can adapt to bank fishing.

Find a dictionary look up the word "adapt"

You go out on the boat you learn the different types of bait, different ways to cut the baits -you learn different rigs and knots. you learn what to look for -why you are fishing a spot - you can look for the same type of things from the bank by using Navionics/ Google Maps etc. nuts

This sounds like good advice. I may have to lay down a 50 for that.

You don't need to fish any deeper than 8 or 10ft.

If you have a smart phone, you can download the navionics app. That should help you find deeper water from the bank. Like if the creek channel winds and runs close to the bank or break walls and ledges. It's not as good as lakemasters detail. But it will get the job done

Lavon - Try the point at Little Ridge.
Vary your distance - I line out 10' , next one 20 yds, the next one 40 yds and 1 60 yds out. Park may be closed - I havnt been there is a long time- but guys walk down the bank and fish it all time anyways. It's on the East side facing West so points like this are good in North, South and West Winds. Points almost always have a drop off or slope / change in contour around them so good to fish. Fish whole and cut shad, perch and / or cut Buffalo n Carp. If you can't net shad go perch fishing in a pond with worms or buy some and you can buy a Buffalo at Fiesta MArt and at Asian Markets. Have them scale it and gut it but NOT wash it. Cut it into 1x1" and 1x2" and 1x 3" strips.

I'd try end first but don't be scared to move around and try different areas. If you see shad in an area fish that area or near it.

I am down to bank fishing only myself now. But I am getting ready to buy me a neat RC boat. The controls has a fish finder built into it that will show you what is under it up to 100 ft. deep. Will tell you the surface temp. also. The range is over 500 yards. The boat has 2 troughs you can put in 2 different batches of chum. or heck, even really large bait.It has 2 latches to drop your bait when and where ever you want to drop it. It receives a GPS signal and has 8 memories. So you can actually take some bait and chum and drop them off where ever up to 500 yards. You can set 7 lines plus use 1 setting for home. Once you drop off your bait just tell it to go home and it will come back to you. Re bait and tell it to go back to the same spot. It will take your bait right back to the same spot and stop. Then all you do is release the bait. You can use the boat to scout out a fishing area to see what depth is there, and see if there is any fish. If you do not like what you see under the water then go ahead and move before even taking out a fishing pole.
