Not sure how to score this one guys. I caught a Black Drum on a crab fly that I tied in about four inches of water. But, I broke the rod in the process.

I'm going to score catching that nice fish on a fly you tied a 10.
I'm going to score the rod a 0, man that has to stink.

I have done that one memorable time myself, same situation. It's enough to make you mad enough to take that fish home for supper... at least, that's how my story played out.

let's do the math ( I have marketing background so sometimes number some into play.)
let grade...
start with 9.5 for the fly - the fish ate it.
apply 8.5 for form photo looks great with you in your victory pose
add 7.0 for broken rod if TFO add 3 points for a 10
add 7.0 pts for glasses being on during photo
add 7.5 for black drum
add 9.0 for two finger "Boga" hold

total 48.50 divided by 6 = 8.0834. Pretty good if you ask me...

Looks like a tfo. Send the picture back with the rod. They'll enjoy it. Might even send you a hat.

I say WIN!

Thanks for the replies guys.

Keebranch - I like it, pretty clever.

Dawg and bryan - it is a TFO so it's not a total loss. A hat would be cool.

Luckily I have two more TFO rods so, I SHOULD be able to manage until my replacement comes in... Maybe.

I'm going to score it a 10 out of 10 for tying a crab fly in 4 inches of water........ bolt

One of these years I am going to make it out to the salt flats, just to be able to say I did it.

That rocks. I see me making the trip south

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”
