Ray Roberts can be a very tough lake, even for folks that fish it often. I can't speak for Squaw Creek but there are other good options out there.

I had a good (for me) day at Ray Roberts today. I fish a main lake point from the bank so take this advice for what it's worth. I caught lots of spotted bass, none too big but a couple of decent ones in the mix.

The topwater bite was very good early and I had best results with a Yellow Magic popper in Alewife. I took the picture below of one of the smaller fish to show how well the lure matched what the fish were feeding on. Lots of hits happened when the lure hit the water and settled without me working the lure at all. I worked the popper fast - like a walk the dog action. The fish were away from the bank in 6-10 feet.

The wind picked up and the topwater bite slowed down so I switched to a Yum Dinger with a weight pegged about 18 inches above the hook. I caught several more with the Dinger until the bite slowed for me around noon.
