Anyone ever tried the Gander Mountain brand Senkos? They are cheaper than Yamamoto's and I'd like to save some money but if they don't perform as good I will stick with Garys. Just curious before I dropped some $$ on them...

Most fishing stores sell cans of Garlic spray. I bought a can a few weeks ago at my local Academy.
To Astro77 the Gander Mountain brand of "Senko's" are a little harder than the normal GY's Senko. I've used them with sucess.

Cabela's makes soft plastics with a garlic scent impregnated. I killed em with they're finesse worm. I'm not sure if all the Go-To stuff has the scent, but I think they do.
like the man says...if you're swimming in the ocean and get bitten by a shark, its not a shark attack. You're in THEIR neighborhood. If you're at home in your shower, turn around and a shark is in there with you...THAT'S a shark attack

Lake Fork Tackle garlic scented lures hold their scent like no other. Put the rod up for days & you can still smell the scent when you cast the lure.

I've been using them for years. They will catch fish and you can buy a bag of 35 for about 10 bucks.

Garlic Pam cooking spray...a few shots into the bag the night before and you've got pizza all day.

They work just fine. I have had alot of success with the strike king shimmy stick as well. Gary makes a great bait, but unless I find them on clearance, I use the other brands. I also find that the other brands do not tear as bad after being inhaled by a bass.

I keep a jar of garlic, salt and water in my fridge for making sausage. I pour some into a spray bottle and for peanuts I have garlic spray. It's like $7 a can at Academy.

I also find that the other brands do not tear as bad after being inhaled by a bass. Good to hear, I've been using Trokar hooks and they tend to tear up a senko pretty fast.

I bought a couple bags but discovered the Bass Pro O'sticks or whatever they are called work better. Come to think of it I can't say that I've ever caught anything on the gander worms..... Granted they were pumpkin and a dark purple color and I use mainly watermelon red fleck BPS ones so it's not a direct comparison. Every time I pull them out (read:pull out the bag to get to a bag of something else underneath it) though I think to myself why did I buy these? BPS are cheap as well as the ganders. 5 bucks for 16 or something and I get numerous fish out of em. You just have to order online or truck it to the closest BPS. It's all I'll fish with now if that says anything.
Also: Since my multiple days per week fishing in my neighborhood water isn't enough of an endorsement, Bill Wilcox uses BPS worms as a Senko stand-in when not in tournaments since the action is fairly comparable and they are more durable then senkos. (Sorry to speak for you Bill but you said it on your show and put me onto them that way!)

Nothing but the Yamamoto for me. Yes, they appear to be softer, but maybe that is why I seem to have better success. I use the O'wacky tool and rings. Makes the Senko last for several fish when they are really biting, since the hook never touches the worm.
