Materials used are
Hook size 8
underbody black foam
Legs fine broom bristles, colored, bent to shape, and built up at the femur then coated with UV resin
Back and head false finger nail cut to shape
Pointed snout, 100 lb nylon melted
Antenna boar bristle
Eyes burnt 10 lb nylon
Thats about it

Very nice Mike.
How are you bending your legs? I haven't tried broom bristles, but the challenge with Mono is to get it hot enough to bend without melting. I've been using a bent paper clip over a candle, but there's got be a better way...

And ladies fake fingernails for the body?
And purchase boar bristle from a fly shop?

I was like wow that looks nothing like the assassin bugs we have around here! Then I noticed that your guide was referencing species from West Africa. Now I'm caught up, haha. Excellent tie! I haven't attempted anything realistic like that - pretty impressive!

Thanks all for the positive comments. Now to answer some of the questions I have a room full of tying materials for realistics which I have collected over the years and when I see something that will be worth trying I will buy it and may never use it!!! lol I bend the legs with very fine pointed tweezers heated over a gas lighter, too much heat and the leg is ruined  The fake fingernails I found many years ago in a Dollar store and thought mmmmmmmmmmmmmm these would work for beetles........ My wife laughs at me when I am in a store she always knows where my mind is........lol Hope this helps, I am working on my next project Mike
