The spawning of largemouth is controlled more by hours of daylight... Sunlight and water temp make them hatch... Normal for eggs to begin forming now....Just hope we don't get a sudden rise of lake level during spawn.... Don't know what fish are doing...As I posted they are strung out right on the bottom at 35 ft. I haven't fished for whites/hybrids much until this year...Always fished for bass with a little crappie thrown in so I'm learning... Haven't got to spend much time on the lake this summer...Might get to go Wed,will post if I go... Good luck to all....Waydon1

Thanks swiper striker for giving me the info on the boat storage. I finally stopped doin' so much stuff and called the number you suggested. Guess the timing was right! woot Talked to Kathy tonight and am meeting her tomorrow to sign up/pay up for a vacant unit at this place. Again my thanks. thumb

Your very welcome George T. The stall next to me has been vacant, but I noticed last week she had rented it. It's so close to the water, I think you'll be pleased. I'm in #8, facing the road, stop by and say hey.

Lady said I would be in #5 facing the road. Might be a week or two before I get my stuff up there. I plan on makin' a serious effort at fishin' through the winter. I heard it's a good time to catch somethin' big but slow to bite. We'll see. Thanks again and say hey sometime.

Usually the winter bite is very good. My guess is the warm weather and low lake conditions have slowed the bite. Hopefully this winter blast will trigger them into feeding. We have to get some rain or we are gonna run out of ramp!!!

Alright, all signed up and got my storage unit. Can't wait to get moved in. Had to wait a couple o' hours for the lady to come by with the paperwork so I went down to Rogers Park and fished from the bank to kill some time. The water sure has gotten low since I was last there and that wasn't too long ago. Saw some sticks that I hadn't seen before. Caught a keeper sized LMB on a sassy shad about 4:30 pm a good cast distance from the shore down there close to that first cove on the way to the bubbles. Another fellow in a little bitty boat caught a couple of littlins about the same time in same area. A little drizzling rain and overcast and a little lightnin' here n' there in the distance. Wind wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Wish I'd brought my kayak now.

What a difference a cold front makes. Caught whts and small hybrids all day long, using a gold slab and shad. My fishing partner caught this bad boy on a dead shad.

WHAT AGAIN!!! grin Come on Yellowcat, that's two weeks in a row..... nuts You might just have to take up TreeBass offer....LOL
Did you see any Hogs...

Swiper Striker, that's one heck of a nice LMB you folks caught. I bet he will be nice and chunking when the next person catches it.. Was nice to see you and your friend, wanted to get closer but I didn't want to interfere with your fishing. I remember the last time I got close to your boat.. I caught your line in my prop... bang Had to get wet to undo the line... lesson learned, especially today.. water is tooooo COLD...

Most our fish caught today was by trolling, we couldn't get any slabbing, caught some drifting live bait.. Just too many bait fish around, the spawn should produce some hefty fish come spawn time.. Caught a 20 in Hybrid and I must say my kind of new Rod and Reel can really haul his a$# in pretty quick. This ABU 6600 C4 reel is awesome.. I just love that 6.3:1 gear ratio. Cranking is smooth and hardly any effort reeling in..

Slabndeep, it was nice talking to you. That is a nice Hybrid you caught.. Couldn't take it anymore at slabbing, just couldn't get a bite.. Need practice... took the easy was out and went trolling...

Tomorrow is Bowling and BudLight time again.... banana Maybe I can score better than fishing...

Have a good one BB..

Good to see some of the Belton Bunch on the water. F4F you should have came over, got lucky and found a bunch of really hungry fish. Stayed in the same spot most of the day, till about 4:00, then they got lock jaw.

Glad to see everyone getting out there catching some fish.

Good lookin' fish y'all got there. Thanks for posting those pics. Sure is encouraging. Hope to get at 'em this week.

Say, I'm fairly new to this area, can you tell me if there is an Academy store in Belton/Temple area? And where's the closest Walmart to Belton Lake? And finally where's a good place to get a sit down hot meal, dinner or supper that's close to Roger's Park that won't squeeze my wallet too much? thanks for your help.

Hope to run across some of you sometime. Looks like I might have to fish on weekends to have that happen. I guess the lake isn't too crowded on weekends these days since the temp drop. I like to stay away from too much big boat traffic in my little kayak. If y'all see me out there, give a wave, holler or somethin' and tell me who you are. If I don't respond I'm either trollin', eyes glued to my depthfinder, asleep or dead. If asleep don't wake me, this is my relaxin' time. If dead, don't revive me, enough is enough. A tow to the bank would be appreciated and you can have what's in my cooler.
