Hey guys I was doing my usual lunch time fishing at my little little fishing hole today when I was greeted by a young man and lady , they were taking water samples for the city . Anyway I mentioned how much I loved this creek and he stated that they were doing check throughout that area and this week they were working this creek , they had also done a check of the fish and he said they had found bass , sunfish , catfish and stripers . Now I can believe the first three since I have caught them all at one time or another in the past year but striper . I can only assume he meant sand bass but I didn't think they would be in a creek like this . I really should have asked for more info but they were really busy with samples and I didn't want to interrupt . If anyone is a striper or sand bass expert and could take a look at this on google and tell me if they believe they might be in this body of water and if so where I should try to find them I would really appreciate it . The coordinates are
Spring Creek 33.020023, -96.712040

The GPS you gave the water is only 6 inches deep at most. There are bluegills bass and catfish definitely. Striper no way. White bass, that is a very possible -but again I might doubt it. A white bass getting that far up is possible, but that fish would have to hop over 10 to 15 dams. But again when we have a good flood they can get over them and migrate way up. I'm sure they were fingerlings of some sort and not full size 10 inches or above if they did find them. That creek eventually dumps into Rowlett creek
I would not bust out your sand bass gear and go down there and try to limit out. All you will find is bluegills and largemouth nothing over a pound or two. It is possible to find a small two or 3 pound bass somewhere in the vicinity's in the deeper pockets. But for the most part the creek is way too shallow until he gets passed Richardson.
The only way a white bass could possibly get that far is maybe during a flood or someone put one in there. I put my money on somebody put one in there. As a example there's a pond in prosper that has a few striper in it. Only way they can get in that pond is if someone put them in there. I would wait till spring and go hit all the normal holes.

Thanks TarponFly
That was my thought too but I'm not experienced enough about sand bass to have been sure and they guy said he had been checking fish populations for the city .. I see where the creek spreads out further out but I've been to that area gotten a couple of nice bass but no sign of sand bass or stripers. Good to have confirmation from someone with real experience.
