Been a while since I did a report, so here it goes. Like just about everything else this year, the Summer schooling pattern has run late as well. The fishing was pretty good early Summer but we just didn't see the topwater action we are used to in June and July. We had some, but it was in odd places and not really consistent. The water is just now warming into the upper 80s and suddenly we have birds and topwater schooling. This is the time of year we are usually grinding it out fishing bait, downrigging and trolling hellpets. I have done none of that lately! Im finding fish shallow on points and humps early using topwaters or chunking and winding slabs. The sassy shad bite is just not good this year. We have plenty of bait, but we did lose a lot of big bait over the Winter so fish are maintaining a healthy diet on 2" threads and small gizzard shad. They have keyed in on that size and just don't take the sassy as readily as they will a 1 or 1.5oz slab being reeled in. I've been using mostly 1.5 oz slabs from www.moestackleshop.com . The Godfather, Pikwi, and Fiesta in chartreuse have been the bestslabs in the schooling fish. Later in the day the sand bass are stacking up on all the usual old hangouts. Points, humps, and roadbeds in 8-12' have been loaded with easy limits of sand bass. I've been downsizing to the SSS Slab or a 3/4oz Godfather slab for bottom bouncing later in the day. The fish are moving around a lot on the humps, but they don't move far. I've been moving the boat back and forth and really watching the graph to stay on fish. I have this Friday open (SAT-Monday is all booked) and several weekdays next week as well. Running a Party boat next Wednesday the 3rd. The fishing has been so good I would really like to book some more trips. I have lots of weekdays open in September, so give me a call at 214-415-0166 and lets get on them! Here's pics from today and a few from the last week or so

I will have to say that today was one of those days that every fisherman hopes they get at least once a year. Matt was so busy during the Hybrid top water melee that he didn't get the opportunity to get in on the fun. Doubles and sometimes triples Hybrid on top. WOW. I thought it was May or November. Birds circling, diving and big splashes everywhere. Didn't matter which direction you threw you were probably going to get a big blow up on your Chug bug. Then after that it was sandbass after sandbass. I don't think there was a five minute period that someone didn't catch something. Matt worked his tail off all day. If you can book a trip with him the time is right.

Nice report Matt! Looks like you make a way where there doesn't seem to be a way regarding finding fish. Strange year all around. Don't recall one quite like this before. Keep catching!

Thank you Matt for a Birthday trip to remember for a long time. a It was hard to believe it was August today . The third pic is a 19 pound channel cat my friend caught today up until about a few years ago would have been a lake record. (The fish was released)It is kind of spooky being like the only boat out on Tawakoni, Matt you probably should have kept this report to yourself. I have enjoyed fishing with you the last three weeks....
