I think you'll find most folks want to work with you whichever way you choose to go! Unfortunately - Hobie is keeping some info pretty "close to the Vest" on their 2015 models....

Here's a link with some info - cool new seat! Flater deck for easier standing.....

Also - look at our facebook page - New Mirage drive with "Glide" technology....

Nice video on upgrades!

Nice video on upgrades!

We've still got 2014s in stock, I'm pretty sure they will be considered a great value especially since we expect Hobie to announce a price increase Sept 1st. That's something they do in September each year.

Have FUN!

Thanks for the info! Looks really nice. Next question would be whats the price gonna be on that bad boy?

If the seat is not that big of a deal you will probably be able to get a 2014 Outback at a heck of deal.
Last year they added the transducer mount and I saw 2013 Outbacks going for $1299 at Backwoods.
Backwoods prices are not any higher than the next guy since I think Hobie dictates what the prices
are. Backwoods does have the deal going that gives you $50 back for every $500 you spend. Which
is about $300 back if you go for a Pro Angler. I have an Outback and love it.

The only thing that is holding me back a little from the outback is the stand ability it has. I would like to be able to stand comfortably and I think the Slayer might be the better option for that. Either way I really need to get out and test paddle a few. Unfortunately me and Shaun have conflicting schedules so I wont be able to take up his offer of fishing from the slayer propel but I would still like to at least test peddle one.

News about 2015 Outback, they included open deck which will allow you to stand.

Yeah I saw that so I kind of want to wait until they come out with it so I can test paddle one. Outback's (at least right now) are about $400 cheaper than the slayer. That'd leave me with enough wiggle room to get a new fish finder or something like that! smile

Hey Nathan I sent you a pm with a few dates that might work for you. If I can re-arrange some appointments to get you in on a fishing/demo or just a paddling/pedaling demo, I'll certainly do that.
Thanks again,

FWIW, I can stand very comfortably in my outback. I can even walk forward & stand on the front hatch! It's that stable.

Lusca how tall/big are you? Im 6'3" 245 (hence my old football nickname "Bull" Im a fairly big dude). So my stand ability is a little different than others I would imagine. I have alot higher center of gravity lol. But like I said that's why I want to get out and test a few first!

Lol, I'm definitely on the opposite end of the spectrum! 5'9" & 130# soaking wet. But, I've spent my whole life fishing out of very small boats, so I do probably have better than average sea legs. I used to have a 12' fiberglass boat that I'd pole the flats in Florida...the poling platform I made from 2" PVC. Needless to say it was pretty rickety! Honestly, standing in the yak is WAY overrated IMO. You'll scare the heck out of the fish from much farther away negating any benefit in being able to see further. I'm a avid sightfisher & I've learned I can get a lot closer to the fish by staying seated. That allows me to make a more accurate cast/presentation and watch the fish's reaction and my lure, bait, or fly. A kayak is THE most stealthy way to fish, but much more so by staying seated. That IMO makes a huge difference with big spooky fish, clear water, and especially sightfishing. I'll stretch my legs and stand occasional and I'll stand to throw my cast net, but more & more I keep my rear end in the seat to fish.

Yeah thats why I really want to try a few and stand up in a few and see. I may find that standing in a yak is just not my cup of tea and I wont let that sway me towards buying one or the other. I do like the option of standing and stretching for a little while as sitting down for hours can take a toll on your behind! Going to try and line up some demos this weekend if I can. Thanks for all the help so far guys really appreciate it!

Just now reading through this and lots of good advice. But let me understand......a guy on the MSKFC fishing team doesn't know where to go to test paddle a Native and a Hobie? smile (just busting your chops...because they needed busting).

No I don't and still don't know where. I know Mariner sails sells both brands but do they do demo's of both? No one has contacted me or stated so and Mike from Mariner even PM'd me but made no mention of being able to demo both boats.

IMariner should be able to setup a demo for you. APT may do demos as well and they're a Native dealer. Not sure if Backwoods in FW (Hobie Dealer) does demos.
